The state education department has decided that the admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Application (MCA) courses will be given on the basis of the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT).
The last date for online registration is January 2 while the examination will be conducted online from February 20 to 24.
Officials of the Joint Admission Committee for Professional Courses (JACPC) said that in the last year too the state had decided to give admission through CMAT, conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). There are about 20,000 seats for MBA and MCA courses in about 197 colleges.
According to the officials, last year only 7,000 students were found eligible for admission throughCMAT and later another 3,000, who had not appeared for CMAT, were admitted.
AICTE conducts national level CMAT twice a year for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in management programmes approved by the AICTE. Recently, the AICTE had issued a notification announcing the schedule for the second CMAT for the academic session 2014-15. The notification says that those who have already appeared in the CMAT first test may also appear for the second test and the better of the two scores will be taken for admission.
