Publishers of all registered publications have to file their annual statement for the financial year 2013-2014 by the end of May on the website www.rniefilling.gov.in, according to an official a press release
Publishers can upload digital signatures and CA certificates for online filing of annual statements.
Those who file online statement without digital signatures should submit hard copy along with CA certificates to the press registrar.
The hard copy should reach the office by May 30 at the address: Sunil Kaushik, SSO R&A cell, office of the Registrar of Newspapers for India, Wing-2, West Block -8, RK Puram, New Delhi-66.
Online filing facility was started in 2012-2013 to facilitate publishers.
The submission of annual statements comes under section 19D of the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867. These are the principal sources of data for the annual publication, Press in India, according to the release.
|Annual Statements e-filing|
|The Press and Registration of Books Act 1867 and Registration of Newspaper (Central Rules 1956) stipulates submission of Annual Statement by each registered Newspaper/Publication on or before 31st May of every year.|
|Why submit Annual Statements?|
|Submission of Annual Statement is mandatory and a proof of regulating of publication of a newspaper. Non – Submission of Annual Statement may attract penalties as well as Cancellation of the Registration. Newspaper not submitting Annual Statement with RNI within the stipulated time are also not included by DAVP in its panel for granting advertisement.|
|Why do you need e-filing?|
|e-filing (electronic filing) will enable the publishers to file their Annual Statements(Form-II) and Daily Press(Annexure-X) on-line through RNI e-filing website. The Publisher can take out the print of the e-filed forms and submit hardcopy to RNI with CA certification, separately within the stipulated period.|
|e-filing offers speed, security and accuracy, and assure inclusion of your Annual Statement in Press In India Report as the data is verified at the time of filing, with RNI’s Database.|
|e-filing is easy, as you need to fill in as fewer columns in the forms. Rest of the Fields will be auto-filled from RNI Database as per your Registration details. If any information is not updated in RNI records, RNI’s official procedure has to be followed to get them changed.|
|As last date of Annual statement submission is 31-May of every year, e-filing can be done upto this date. Printed e-filed statement will be accepted in RNI office till June 30 as an incentive for e-filing.|
