In what appears to be a New Year gift for guest teachers, the Haryana government on Tuesday announced salary increase for them from January 1, 2014.

Guest lecturers in the state will now get Rs 23,500 per month instead of Rs 19,440. Masters and language teachers (Hindi/Punjabi and Sanskrit) will get Rs 19,000 per month instead of Rs 15,840 and JBT and drawing teachers would be paid Rs 17,500 per month instead of Rs 14,400 per month.

An official release said that the education department has also decided that the posts on which the guest faculty teachers are working will not be treated as vacant. “The guest faculty teachers will not be shifted from his or her working station and if in case of promotion or appointment or transfer of regular teacher a guest faculty is dislocated, his or her order of adjustment would be issued simultaneously or immediately thereof,” the release said.
