Parents can now self attest documents-Nursery admissions

There’s some relief for people finding it difficult to get photocopies of certificates attested for the nursery admissions. The Delhi government’s education department has clarified that parents require to only self-attest the copies of certificates and present the original documents for verification when the child has secured admission.

“It was a real headache as some schools required the caste certificate to be attested by a gazetted officer, while some asked us to get it notarised,” said Mridul Kumar, a parent.

Various documents ranging from caste certificates to birth certificates are required for admission. “Schools cannot compel for submission of attested copies of any document at the time of submission of application. Parents need to submit only self-attested copies of certificates/documents. Schools can ask for production of original documents for verification at the final stage of admission. If documents were found to be fake, the school may cancel the candidature,” the notification stated.

“This will provide relief to parents as they were earlier confused where to get the documents attested from. Some parents did not have access to gazetted officers either,
