University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi has invited applications for PG scholarships for Single Girl Child 2015. The interested and eligible candidates can apply by August 30.
The objectives of the proposed scheme are:
a) To support post graduate education of single girl child in non-professional courses only.
b) To recognise the value of observance of small family norm.
Any single girl child who is the only child or twin daughter or fraternal daughter in the family, if one son and one daughter exists, then the girl child will not be considered for scholarship under the scheme;
This scheme is applicable to those single girl children who have taken admissions in regular, full-time first year Master’s degree course in any recognised university or a post graduate college;
This scholarship is available to PG-I year students only;
Girl students up to the age of 30 years at the time of admission in PG courses are eligible.
The candidates will get an amount of Rs 31, 000.

Documents to be submitted:
Proof of admission to first year Master’s degree course in a recognised Indian University covered under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act.
A certificate from the College/University where students have taken admission to first year PG Course in the current academic year.
An affidavit on a Rs 50 stamp paper from the student/parent duly attested by SDM/First Class Magistrate/Gazetted Officer (not below the rank of Tahsildar) copying the prescribed languages.
